Soundly Asleep

The screen’s blurring
My eyes are hurting
Big Red Machine is playing
Tonight I’ll sleep soundly

Not to ‘People’s Lullaby’
But to the people who have said goodbye
Who make me feel human and proud
To be capable of sleeping soundly

I can’t sleep in silence
My sleep is filled with sound in every way
Podcast blaring, mind whirring
Yet soundly I sleep, soundly I will sleep

Knowing I can sleep
Soundly
Asleep
