Spiders

(for every woman I have ever known)

hands like heavy spiders

crawling across fragile skin

shredding the soul

threats disguised as

old friends

family

captivating boys at parties

bleeding corruption

shark smiles and

cold eyes

gut us out

bathe in our blood

pull our hair

peel off our skin

our essence

ready for the first bite

we won’t smile again

keep our keys between our fingers

our hearts are splintered metal

take your spiders

and whatever is left of us

(and just fuck off)

tell everyone how much

we loved

being destroyed

how could a nuclear bomb seem so harmless
