this town is covered in fog
rolling out in the morning to show the day
the lies it hides, distracted from view
spectacular to visitors, yet ominous to us
so you’d be forgiven for seeing the beauty
but That feeling won’t leave you
this town is covered in fog
it comes at dawn and dusk each time
with it comes discomfort and unease
and the birds stop singing and the trees fall silent
it’s hard to breathe and the air is thin
the fog is heavy and my shoulders are small
this town is covered in fog
it weaves the streets and hides the beach
echoing my thoughts before they’ve been formed
reverberate my anger and amplify my sadness
the missing link between time and space
come feel the void’s kiss on your palms and cheeks
