Yes, it sucks; we all feel it. Getting excited for when things ‘get back to normal’ feels both hopeful and distant. I’m well aware of the hardships this year has brought on, but that doesn’t make the smaller losses any less significant or upsetting. Yes, I was devastated at the amount of things I had lined up this year that have since been cancelled, and that is valid. But onwards and upwards…
Because trust me – when concerts, gigs and festivals start up again I’ll be the first one there. So, after that, do you want the long list or the short…? I’ll give you both… Exposing my mainstream taste but, who are we kidding, I want to see people who I can shout all the lyrics to; it’s not always about having an indie jam.
Every frickin’ one.
Cosy Chill: Mumford & Sons, The Vaccines (again), Tom Odell, Jake Bugg, Monsters & Men, The Neighbourhood, George Ezra, Tame Impala, The Wombats, The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Circa Waves, Jack Johnson, Paramore, Bastille, MGMT, ALT-J, The 1975 (again), CHVRCHES, BORNS, Royal Blood… too many more to name.
Dream Gals: Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Rihanna, Sia, Dolly Parton, Lorde, Adele, Lizzo, Ellie Goulding, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Camilla Cabello, Little Mix (what a grl pwr vibe though…)
Up All Night: The Weeknd, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers (first CD I bought), Elton John, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran (again), Khalid, David Guetta, Wilkinson, Rudimental… just imagine the atmosphere.
The Festivals: Boardmasters (since ’19 and ’20 both got cancelled on me), Glastonbury, Wilderness, Latitude, Isle of Wight, SW4, Community, Parklife, BST, Camp Bestival (you know… all the classics) and Reading (just to relive my 16 year old wilds once more).
I’ll stop there because my Spotify will be overwhelmed by the time I’ve ploughed through all these artists and their tunes again. There are so many legends I know I’ll have missed from this list, and it is in no particular order. My frazzled pandemic brain is dying to be in a crowded concert hall listening to just about anything live and these huge stars I’m sure will put on quite a show. I’ll definitely be broke by the time live gigs are going again, but lockdown has made me appreciate every moment out with friends even more.
See you there.
